Why are Indirect Manpower not Included in the Efficiency Report?

Operators, Helpers, Pressmen are direct manpower because they perform the real work directly and are involved in the production of the garment.

Line Feeders, Supervisor, Line Chief/Leader, Floor Incharge, Production Manager, Administration Employee, Industrial Engineers etc., assist in completing a task by providing support. They do not perform the actual work directly and are not involved in the production of the garment directly.

Efficiency is calculated as Hours produced against Hours worked. Or total minutes produced against total minutes worked (attended minutes) by the direct employees.

Hours produced divided by the number of hours worked measure efficiency. In other words, the number of minutes worked by direct manpower is divided by the number of minutes produced.

Standard time must be assigned to all tasks performed by workers in a production line to receive minutes from each employee. . But in practice, we can’t set SAM for indirect manpower.

As a result, we do not receive any produced hours from the indirect manpower. To avoid this, we do not consider indirect personnel in the calculation of line efficiency.

If quality checking is assigned as SAM, you must include the number of quality checkers and the number of hours they spent on the job in the efficiency calculation. If the checking job is not included in the OB, their work should not be taken into consideration for calculating efficiency.
